On March 10 & 11, Canyon Crest Students were evaluated for next years program. See their great work at Envision – The Arts at Canyon Crest Academy

May 8, 3:30-5:00, Senior Vice President, Director of iDeutsch, Josh Rose is coming to speak at Canyon Crest Academy about life in the Advertising World. Deutsch LA is considered one of the strongest creative agencies on the West Coast. Josh graduated from TPHS in 1986 and was the Commissioner of the Arts. He received his BFA at UC, Santa Cruz in 1991 and is a proud pappa.

May 15, 3:30-5:00, PhD candidate in Optical Sciences, minor in biomedical Engineering at the U. of Arizona, Tony Tanbakuchi is coming to speak. He graduated from TPHS in 1998 and went from awards in photography to working at the University of Arizona’s Radiology Department on optical biopsy technology for early detection of ovarian and esophageal cancer.

May 13, 2006 For Arts Sake Nine will be held at TPHS in the Art Rooms. This is an annual student and alumni art show thanking the donors to the art department.

May 20, 2006 Canyon Crest Academy will hold their inaugral art show in the Media Center. This will be an annual all student and alumni(when they have them) art show thanking all donors to their Foundation and showcasing the Envision Students. You can see the amazing work Envision Digital and Fine Art students are doing here.

Jennifer Lee ’02 and I will be doing a collaborative mural project, we were juried into the 2006 Art Walk project “The Art Miles Mural Project”. Jennifer designed the concept entitled “Magic Lessons” and submitted the sketch. We will be painting a 5′ X 6′ canvas that is part of a project across the globe. Rhiannon Alpers ’95 Last spring received MFA from Columbia College Chicago in Book and Paper Arts and is currently teaching Undergraduate classes in the Art and Design Department there, and Workshop classes for the retail stores Paper Source in the Chicago area, and for the Center for Book and Paper Arts in Chicago. This summer she’ll be
teaching a semester class in Florence, Italy for one of Columbia College’s Abroad Programs at the Santa Reparata School of Art.

Justin Moodie ’00 is showing his paintings at the Museum of the Living Artist in Balboa Park.  He received his M.Ed with credentials in Art, Biology and Geoscience and has been subbing in the SDUHSD district with hopes of a position in the fall.

Dustin Mackay ’02 is graduating from BYU with a BFA in Illustration.  He will be returning to San Diego in April.  His portfolio is at  www.altpick.com/dustinmackay

Annika Nelson ’87 will be installing a collaborative Playground at Tideland Park in Coronado on January 21st at 11 a.m.
