Public Art: La Mesa Walking Art Trail Utility Box Project
Tuesday, June 20th, 2006I completed the utility box on the 15th of June. It is bursting with color and life and does justice to its inscription, “For Dale”. If you have a chance drive by and see it. My husband of 27 years, has always been supportive of my art career, he built my art studio and continues to be helpful whenever needed. We recently started collaborating, he is building beautiful hardwood tables and I am painting tops that are inserted under glass. They will be up on my website in August, and can be purchased through the website.
I have just been informed that my submission was accepted and I will be painting a Utility Box on the corner of Universtity Avenue, La Mesa Blvd and Memorial Drive in La Mesa. I will be painting it on June 15th. The piece I selected was from my “Promise Lily” series. The bursting lily is full of life, surrounded by supporting leaves and newly forming buds. My husband Dale has worked in La Mesa for over 20 years, he was a significant person behind the building of Grossmont Hospital’s new emergency room. This painting will be dedicated to his love and care of La Mesa’s citizens.
