Canyon Crest Academy DFA Envision Conservatory Teachers
participate in the inaugural EVA Communication Workshop
(Every Valuable Asset)
On August 26, 2006 the DFA Envision Conservatory teachers and TA met at artist- in -residence Patti Fox’s house from 10 AM – 5 PM for an EVA Communication workshop.
Our goal was to find ways to teach our students that its ok to stay in process and to share their process with their peers and teachers and that we believe this will empower them as artists.
EVA- Every Valuable Asset stressed how we, as teachers can use our strengths to work with our students and by collaborating we can utilize the strengths of all the teachers in the program to accomplish our goals. In each class setting, we can look to the students strengths to create a collaborative atmosphere where everyone is a contributor.
We hope our students will be better prepared to talk about their hopes and dreams and process. We will be encouraging self and group critiquing to better prepare them for how the competitive college and art schools work.
These skills will also help them to ask for what they need. OUR goal is to help the students create a life they can own and engage in. We wish to create an environment where it is possible to be responsible citizens, to themselves and to others around them.
